Cynthia Soto, Director of UIC’s Native American Support Center Named to Chicago Memorials and Monuments Assessment Project Committee

Cynthia Soto, director of the Native American Support Center at UIC has been named as a member of the  Monuments and Memorials committee for the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs established by Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

The purpose of the project is to “provide a vehicle to address the hard truths of Chicago’s racial history, confront the ways in which that history has and has not been memorialized, and develop a framework for marking public space that elevates new ways to memorialize Chicago’s true and complete history.”
